Converse Gray, legal counsel and society officer, budget reports, treasurer's records, and account records from Central Trust of Illinois; incoming and outgoing correspondence of the office of the secretary (the bulk of the collection), containing correspondence, letter books, indexes, notes, and teaching applications; correspondence, grouped by institutional names; records of special committees and departments; historical materials, including acts of incorporation, bylaws, charter, constitution, and miscellaneous drafts; lantern slides, many representing midwestern academies, including a number of images from the Oberlin College Slavid Dept., which trained theological students to work with Eastern European immigrant communities. Also includes educational and promotional material published by the Congregational Education Society, Congregational Publishing Society, and National Council; and oversize materials containing copies of incorporation papers of American Society for the Education of Pious Youth for the Gospel Ministry and its successors.
